Depoe Bay Whale Watching Center is a place to go for year-round whale watching on the Oregon Coast. At their peak migration times, gray whales swim by the thousands as they make their way between Alaska and Mexico, and you can view their journey from the Whale Watching Center. Although gray whales are the most common to see from Depoe Bay, you might also get the chance to spot humpback whales, orcas, dolphins, porpoises and blue whales. The best times to observe the gray whales' migration occur during mid-December to mid-January and again from the end of March to June. The center’s Whale Watching Spoken Here volunteer program helps whale enthusiasts spot the breaching creatures during winter and spring Whale Watching Weeks. Come summer and fall, though, you can still catch a glimpse of the whales that feed along Oregon’s coast.
