Gnat Creek Fish Hatchery
Gnat Creek is a very unique area because 12 million years ago, a gigantic lava flow came all the way from present-day Lewiston, Idaho to the coast in just 7 days! The water flows up and around the undulating lava rock in the creek. The first part of the walk will go down to the campground and back to the hatchery. Then head uphill through the woods for a short distance before turning back down on the trail next to the creek. You'll see two waterfalls, and you can also feed the fish in the hatchery pens. Meet at the 2nd St. parking lot and carpool from there.
