By Emily Lindblom | Wednesday, October 30, 2019

Happy Halloween on the North Coast! With the holiday's coming and going, fall is officially in full swing, and the happenings within these towns reflect it. From trick-or-treating to mushroom hunting, you can take in the area's best of the fall season through the multitude of events going on this week.

Spooky Museum

Thursday, October 31

Celebrate Halloween at the Cannon Beach History Center & Museum for their annual Spooky Museum event. Bring the kids in Halloween costumes for a haunted time at the museum. The museum will stay open until 6 p.m. with the event kicking off at 1 p.m. Be sure you stop by the eerie Shipwrecks of the Oregon Coast exhibit for candy and special tours.

Downtown Seaside Trick or Treating

Thursday, October 31

Following your trip to the museum, stay in costume, and be ready to rake in the sweets at the Downtown Seaside Development Association's Trick-or-Treating program from 2 to 5 p.m. Businesses will be decorated in festive Halloween fashion and giving away candy!

Halloween Movies at Neptune Theatre

Thursday, October 31

In the spirit of Halloween, the Neptune Theatre in Long Beach will offer two free movie screenings to add a bit of creepy fun to the evening. Take your pick between The Rocky Horror Picture Show or Hocus Pocus. Both screenings start at 7 p.m. If you feel strongly about one in particular, it may be a good idea to show up a little early to ensure you get a seat.

Spice Rack Remedies: Do-it-Yourself Kitchen Medicine for Common Ailments

Saturday, November 2

In this season of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and, occasionally, the sniffles, learn how to use your spice rack to make your own home remedies for common ailments. Find out how to turn kitchen staples into cures or temporary relief for headaches, indigestion, eye irritation, rashes and sleeplessness from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sou’Wester Lodge in Seaview. The price is $30, and participants will get to keep a sample of each remedy they create.

Marvelous Mushroom Adventure

Sunday, November 3

Join the Tillamook Estuaries Partnership on a hike to learn all about mushrooms you can find on the North Coast. You’ll get to learn about the ecology and identification of mushrooms, then go out in the forest to test your knowledge in nature. After the mushroom-hunting excursion, the group will come back together to identify what was found. This Explore Nature event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the Tillamook Estuaries Partnership's location in Garibaldi.

Pageturners Book Discussion

Tuesday, November 5

These cooler days and longer nights provide the ideal environment for settling in with a good book. Head to Ocean Park Timberland Library on the Long Beach Peninsula, and check out a new book to keep you company. Then, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month, return to the library for a lively discussion about what you read and the opportunity to gain recommendations from the fellow readers in attendance. This event is free to attend.
