Event Description: 

CANCELED. Seth Wollam, athletic band director at Linfield College, will conduct an afternoon of spring-themed concert wind band music. Doors open at 1:15 PM and guitarist David Drury and bassist Justin Francoeur will offer a concert prelude of jazz classics and original compositions starting at 1:30 PM. The concert is free thanks to the loyal supporters of the NCSB. Linfield College athletic band director Seth Wollam is a conductor, researcher, and educator. He’s held conducting and band positions in Pennsylvania, Texas, and Colorado, and is currently completing his DMA at the University of North Texas. All pieces on the April 19 concert have some connection with the theme of “Step into Spring.”

The North Coast Symphonic Band is in its 40th season of providing quality wind band music to the community and offers local musicians of all ages the chance to network, learn from each other, and maintain their skill level in a positive and supportive environment. Most sections of the band are full with waiting lists but there are openings for clarinet, trumpet, and saxophone. The band rehearses on Monday evenings in Astoria and musicians interested in joining should e-mail Personnel Director Lee Stromquist at encore1@charter.net or call 503-861-1328. Potential new members should read music, own their own instruments, and have advanced high school level performance skills or higher.
