Going to jail can be a good thing – especially when it’s a slammer that’s been given a new life as the Seaside Brewing Company. Located in the restored Old Seaside City Jail (built in 1914), the Seaside Brewing Company prides itself on its craft beer, the food paired with it and epic bonfires frequently enjoyed by beachside guests as they savor both. Fiercely loyal to the motto, “Think Local, Drink Coastal,” everything about this place is fun, flavorful and Seaside-centric. These folks are dedicated beer brewers and beer lovers without taking themselves too seriously.
The brewery’s hopped-up concoctions are brewed onsite, and the taps from which they flow come right out of the jail cell that once served as the city's drunk tank and occasional women's cell. The brewers use big malt profiles, carefully balanced yeast and a healthy dose of imagination to create an assortment of distinctive IPAs, cream ales, pale ales, stouts and more.
For an added smile to the one you’ll develop sampling the selection, the brews are named after local legends, Seaside landmarks and shoreline folklore – all explained with a wicked sense of humor on the beer menu. The food menu is just as entertaining and tasty with delicious appetizers, salads, chowders, burgers, sandwiches, house specialties and barbecue cooked low and slow over wood-fired pits using Oregon oak and alder hardwoods.
