If wartime aviation and authentic World War II regalia is up your alley, the Tillamook Air Museum is where your kind of hands-on history lesson is displayed daily. Located in Tillamook, just east of U.S. Highway 101 and not far from the Tillamook Airport, the impressive array of exhibits at this museum is both singular and stunning. Everything from recreations of British wartime bunkers to enormous WWII blimp hangars can be found at this local gem of a museum. Airplane enthusiasts will find no shortage of excitement here as actual aircraft, such as the Bell TH-57 Helicopter, the F-14A Tomcat and a Douglas A-4 Skyhawk are present and accounted for in the museum lot. The Tillamook Air Museum is housed inside one of the only 17 blimp hangars from the World War II era. This is actually the only place a civilian can see inside one of these historic hangars, originally built to house blimps doing anti-submarine scouting missions off the Pacific Northwest coastline. To step foot in this museum is akin to strolling through a tangible piece of American military history.
